Pottery traditions are handed
down from generation to generation, from mother to daughter. This
sculpture honors that tradition. I come from a family of potters
which presently are three generations producing Pueblo pottery. I
remember how my grandmother used to sit at the table molding the clay.
The sound of squishing and slapping the clay, then the gentle, almost
indistinguishable sound of the clay being coiled into the pot. My
grandmother passed away a couple of years ago. But with her
knowledge and respect for the clay, which she learned from her mother,
the women of my clan, the Corn Clan, continue this treasured tradition.

"Dawn of the Puebloan Legacy"
Original.
Colorado Yule Marble
& Texas and Indiana Limestone
84" high x 27" wide x 48" deep
$45,000.00 |

The Puebloan culture is rich in history, traditions, beliefs and
knowledge. It is an oral tradition, passed on from generation to generation by
word of mouth. This sculpture honors the Pueblo people. The t-shaped doorway is
of the ancient Anasazi design to symbolize the passing of the spirit world into
the human world. The bowls are filled with sacred cornmeal to be offered to the
Creator and the spirits who dwell in this universe. The symbols on the two
pedestals represent the journeys that the people have taken to find the perfect
place. And the woman is the mother of the Pueblo people, holding a bowl filled
with cornmeal.

"Child of the Clouds"
original
Colorado Yule Marble
84" tall x 27" wide x 18"deep
$38,000.00 |

This elegant sculpture reflects the Pueblo people’s reliance on the
rain clouds. During certain ceremonies the headdress, called a tablita, is worn
to represent the clouds. On the reverse side of this sculpture hair flows from
the head to the feet. In Pueblo culture the hair represents rain. The engraving
on the front symbolizes songs from the ceremonies to induce moisture from the
cloud spirits. The necklace represents the beauty of one’s inner self, and the
shell represents where life began.
